To Commemorate - 9/11/01

Never Forget

This poem was written in 2001 to commemorate the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, New York, on September 11, 2001. It took me awhile to get it published and it is now been included among the many works of art and submissions at the online 9/11 Museum in New York City. The visceral components of these words serve as a reminder of what the people there must have gone through on that dreadful morning. Much like that horrendous day of Pearl Harbor, we were riveted not by radio but by what we saw occur in real-time as we collectively witnessed the horror as it unfolded on television. We understood. It galvanized a nation. The events of that day will never be forgotten, nor should they be. ~d.lawrence
