The Wisdom of Grandmothers
I don’t know about you, but my grandmother had a way of
putting phrases together that were puzzling but made a lot of sense after much
thought. I always thought of her as one of those wise women who knew a lot and spoke her mind, especially when she needed to drive home an important point.
When she did, I thanked God I was one of her grandchildren. Here
is one of her gems:
It’s better to remain silent and be thought the fool than to speak and remove all doubt; remember, an empty wagon makes the most noise.
