Lay Your Heavy Burdens
Throw away your sword into the thorns,
You will not need it now.
As the wind lifts you above the horns,
Banish demons from your brow.
No need to worry about tomorrow,
Put down the hefty trowel.
What is left is but sweet sorrow,
Resting heavy upon the bough.
Long are gone the wretched days,
Of worry and misgivings.
Long are gone the wretched ways,
Now left among the living.
Reach out your hand and touch the light,
Of glory and forever.
Turn away from what is left behind,
For you will see it never.
Lay down the load that was unplanned,
It has finally come to rest.
Sleep now, my prince, and understand,
That you have done your best.
Walk softly through the open door—
And know that you were blessed.
