A Poem about Reset: Be Still

Be Still

At this time of year, I felt it was necessary to share this work of prose. I find that in days of uncertainty, chaos, and the feeling of having lost our way, it is good to know that a ‘reset’ of our thoughts, priorities and spirit is always a good option. I hope you find time to rest, fill your mind and day with reflection—and be still, if only for a moment. Enjoy!

Be Still

(from Looking In from Outside: Poetry & Prose)

Enjoy the quiet. It is whisper-soft…

These days, it seems that even our religious belief in walking by faith and not by sight has been upended. In secular life, we need proof to believe. In that, we walk by sight and not by faith. Just because there is no physical evidence of Moses doesn’t mean he didn’t exist. We need to believe in something, and faith will get us there.

So be still for a moment.

Absorb the quiet and languish in the beauty of silence. Throw away worry and pain. Leave thoughts for tomorrow at tomorrow’s door; they are not for today. All will be well regardless of what may happen. Satan has no place when Jesus is on the right hand of God. It is all in God’s hands anyway.

So be still for a moment.

Enjoy the soft, rippling thoughts of sunshine and light. Blessed is he who understands God’s word and loves Jesus. Stand strong in faith, knowing that there is nothing we can’t withstand. Inhale deeply, hold onto each breath long enough to fill the lungs and slowly exhale, feeling the tension of the day’s stress release.

So be still for a moment.

Just a moment in time is all that’s needed to reset. Just a moment in time is all that’s needed to unwind—just a moment of quiet to find peace. The quiet is whisper soft.

Be still.
