Book Release - Looking In from Outside: Poetry & Prose

Book Release

It’s finally here! My next book.

I never thought this day would come. I appreciate the form of poetry; however, I’ve written poems for a long time, and the collection was building. After publishing Miss Virginia and the Sweet Sisters and writing blog posts, I decided to do something with the collection of words written in the form of poetry, prose, and personal musings.

To borrow a line I heard recently: some of these works are inspired by my own experiences, but driven by my imagination. I couldn’t have said it better. To read what the collection is about, please read on.

Looking In from Outside: Poetry & Prose is now available on Amazon in Kindle and Paperback form. I hope you purchase a copy just in time for Christmas!

Through what lens should we view life? The one that seldom looks back—except to find joy.

Looking In from Outside is Donna Lawrence’s debut collection of poems and prose. This book offers honest and authentic reflection written for those who have loved and lost or shown courage when faced with life’s challenges, however large or small they might be. It is a collective mix of poetry and prose on several themes, highlighting family, love, social pressures, work ethics, loss, trauma, political perspectives, and spiritual reflection.

These themes are woven together to chronicle one woman’s journey from a young age to adulthood, accepting her strength and purpose through courage and perseverance amid tragedy and self-discovery.

It is an empowering book written to inspire hope, prompt introspection, and the idea of a promising tomorrow.
