The Hat

Hats

A sneak peek of what's to come in my book of poems & short stories

The Hat

“Hey, you in the hat,” he says as I turn to see him gaze at me, saying nothing more.

Coming closer, he then says, “You’re beautiful.”

Well, I don’t know if that’s all true.

Is it the hat that has him fooled?

Embarrassed, I look down at the floor.

It’s just a hat and nothing more.

Black as night and wide of brim,

The hat has drawn me to him.

And I like that.
